Air Fryer Conversion Calculator

Enter the temperature and cook time from a conventional oven recipe, and this calculator gives you the equivalent air fryer temperature and time using the standard rule-of-thumb adjustment cooks rely on to adapt recipes for a basket-style air fryer.

Oven temperature (°F)
Oven cook time (min)
375°F Air fryer temperature
16 min Air fryer time
-25°F · ×0.8

How it works

Air fryers are really just small convection ovens with a much more powerful fan, so hot air circulates faster and more directly around the food. That makes them cook effectively hotter than a conventional oven set to the same temperature, so the standard adjustment is to lower the temperature by about 25°F (roughly 14°C) and cut the cooking time by around 20%.

Tip

Air fryer models vary a lot in wattage and basket size, so the first time you try a recipe, check the food a few minutes before the calculated time is up, and shake the basket or flip the food halfway through for more even cooking.

Is this exact?

No. This is a general guideline, not a precise conversion — always use a food thermometer to confirm meat and poultry have reached a safe internal temperature, and adjust the exact time and temperature to suit your specific air fryer model based on the results.
